About us
We are Héctor Aguirrebeña and Rodrigo Snider, two friends who met while working together in Barcelona.
After several years collaborating on engineering projects, our shared passion for electronics, sound, and creative exploration naturally led us to start a new adventure, and that’s how Maniwaki Sounds was born. Our brains are in Spain, our hearts in Maniwaki.
Héctor is a drummer and guitarist, and an electronics enthusiast. Over the years, he’s been part of several bands, aiming to take each new song to the next level.
That same creative drive took him from playing to making. Music and electronics naturally converged in the world of D.I.Y. guitar pedals, where he began experimenting with circuits as a way to shape his own tone.
His early builds evolved from hobby to craft, a hands-on way to blend artistic expression with technical design. Inspired in the sounds of post-punk, shoegaze and alt. rock bands, Héctor began developing what would become Tephra, Maniwaki Sound’s debut and flagship.
Rodrigo is passionate about engineering. He plays piano and spent his early years producing electronic music and rap beats, always looking for new textures and ways to manipulate sound.
With a strong background in firmware design, he joined the development of Tephra to help bring Héctor’s sonic vision into a fully realized product.
Rodrigo is more involved in the graphic design and manufacturing side of the project, ensuring that each pedal not only sounds epic but looks and feels like a carefully crafted piece of gear.
Together, we build instruments of expression, effects that go beyond functionality, offering musicians the versatility they need to shape their own tone.
Tephra is our first product, with many more to come.
